Job summary

Smith System is seeking a Senior Designer for learning environments to lead the development of innovative, student-centered educational spaces that align with our brand vision. You will oversee design from concept to final package, collaborating with RSMs, dealers, educators, and end users to ensure pedagogy, engagement, and future-ready outcomes.

The ideal candidate brings 5–10+ years of interior/educational design, strong CAD/CET/Revit skills, and experience in K–12 or higher education

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years of interior design or educational design experience.
• Proficiency in CAD/Revit/CET, space planning, rendering software, and furniture specification tools.
• Experience designing K–12, early childhood, higher education, library, or other educational learning environments.
• Experience collaborating with dealers, architects, educators, school districts, and sales teams.
• Knowledge of educational pedagogy, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), neurodiversity, and flexible classroom design principles.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with RSMs, dealers, architects, designers, educators, and end users to create safe, functional, and engaging learning environments.
• Design classrooms, libraries, cafés, commons, and learning spaces that support evolving pedagogy and well-being.
• Apply knowledge of UDL and future-ready environments to develop thoughtful design solutions.
• Provide project support through drawings, space planning, furniture specs, finish recommendations, and pricing support.
• Participate in meetings, workshops, charrettes, and discovery sessions to understand client objectives and communicate design concepts.
• Support pre-sales and post-sales activities with layouts, renderings, quotes, revisions, and installation coordination.
• Partner with sales, marketing, product development, and customer support to align project outcomes with brand positioning.
• Stay current on educational design trends, codes, and installation considerations.
• Engage in industry organizations and design community events to strengthen relationships and brand visibility.
• Help develop scalable learning environment standards and resources for long-term customer success.
