Job Description:

Saab Inc., Autonomous and Undersea Systems division is seeking an innovative and experienced Designer/Drafter to collaborate with the Engineering team on CAD models, assemblies, and drawings for autonomous Unmanned Surface/Underwater Vehicles (AUSVs/AUVs) and Remotely Operated Vehicles (ROVs). This position will be based in our Quincy, MA facility.

Job Responsibilities:

1. Work with CAD tools (SolidWorks & SolidEdge) to develop 3D models, parts, components, and assemblies.
2. Manage data using PDM systems and adhere to configuration management processes.
3. Create and maintain drawing templates and project guidelines.
4. Implement ANSI drawing standards.
5. Create and modify mechanical 2D drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks & SolidEdge.
6. Apply knowledge of manufacturability and product configuration methods.
7. Support specific projects or project components.
8. Exercise good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for solutions.
9. Interact with internal and external personnel at various levels.
10. Follow established procedures for routine work; require instruction only for new assignments.
11. Work with moderate guidance on projects.

Compensation Range: $75,500 - $94,400

The provided range is a guideline; actual offers consider role responsibilities, location, market conditions, and candidate experience and skills.

Skills and Experience:

Minimum requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 5+ years of relevant experience
• Proficiency with SolidWorks & SolidEdge
• Experience with PDM systems (SolidWorks)
• Knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards
• Experience with tolerance stackup assessment
• Experience managing BOMs and drawing trees
• Experience with weight and center of gravity tracking
• Knowledge of DFMA principles
• Design experience for new components and systems, including creating mechanical and electrical part drawings
• Ability to review work for CAD and drafting standards compliance
• Ability to adopt and implement design and CAD standards
• Proficiency in converting CAD data into formats like IGES, DXF, STEP, and PDF
• Experience creating and updating drawing templates and guidelines
• Ability to coordinate with other disciplines
• Experience in creating engineering change proposals

Desired qualifications:

• Associate's degree in a technical or business field, or equivalent
• 7+ years of relevant experience
• Advanced support skills and extensive knowledge of tools, software, and technologies
