Job summary

HDR Remodeling Inc. in the East Bay Area seeks a Senior Designer/Architect to lead design through construction. You will collaborate with Design Manager, Estimating, and Production teams, driving projects with structural complexity and independence in execution.

Responsibilities include on-site discovery, architectural sets, and code compliance, while guiding clients through selections and budgets. Ideal candidate brings 10+ years of residential design, strong client-facing skills, and

Qualifications

• 10+ years of residential design experience with kitchens and baths.
• Strong understanding of structural considerations, planning, and building codes.
• Knowledge of NKBA design guidelines.
• Experience creating detailed drawings and specifications.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to finishes.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Bachelor's degree in design, architecture, or related field.
• AutoCAD LT as primary design software; working knowledge of 3D renderings, Photoshop, Canva.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site discovery, measurements, and documentation of conditions.
• Produce complete architectural sets: floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, elevations, and 3D perspectives.
• Apply California Building Codes and Title 24 through city review with minimal corrections.
• Guide clients through selections balancing vision, lead times, and budget.
• Develop and maintain project budgets with Design Manager and revise material/subcontractor quotes.
• Prepare trade walk packets with clear scopes for bidding.
• Own cabinetry process from layout to delivery and lead handoff to build team.
• Mentor junior designers on structural, code, and planning considerations.
