HB Workplaces in Draper, UT seeks a Senior Designer to lead commercial furniture projects from concept through construction. You will work with clients, A&D designers, and HB Account Managers to create layouts, specify MillerKnoll brands, and produce complete drawings.

Candidates should have 5+ years in commercial furniture, CET Designer and AutoCAD proficiency, and knowledge of building codes. This full-time, hybrid role offers collaboration across MillerKnoll brands and opportunities to mentor

Qualifications

  • Professional experience and a BFA, BA or BS in interior design, architecture and planning from an accredited college or equivalent.
  • At least 5 years of Commercial Furniture Dealership experience.
  • NCIDQ, WELL, and/or LEED certifications valued.
  • Demonstrated skill using 2D/3D software, proficient in CET Designer, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Suite.
  • Knowledge of visualization tools such as Enscape, SketchUp, Twin Motion is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design portions of projects by evaluating client needs and presenting layouts and furniture selections.
  • Create complete drawings and specifications following HBWorkplaces process.
  • Produce furniture layouts, typicals and budgets, and ensure compliance with codes.
  • Collaborate with clients, A&D designers, and HB Account Managers.
  • Manage project documentation and closeouts, updating master drawings.

SUMMARY

As aCommercialFurnitureSeniorDesigner, you work on projects ofallsizesand complexitieshelping to create exceptional workplace environments.You play a key role in project success, working closely with clients, A&D designers, and HB Account Managers toidentifyand fulfill programming needs. Utilizing theMillerKnollfamily of brands you select, specify and space plan furniture layouts that harmonize with the interior design of the environment. You lead the designportionof projects by evaluating client needs, formulating designconceptsthen presenting your proposed layouts and furniture selections to the client. Once the design isfinalized, you create complete andaccuratedrawings and specifications that followHBWorkplaces design process and our cycle of service.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Completeanysize commercial furniture projects start to finish
  • Create and develop furniture layoutsutilizingcommercialworkplace strategies
  • Evaluate client needs anddeterminethe scope of services required through in-person or virtual meetings with the Account Manager and client
  • Partner with Account Manager to complete detailed inventories andaccuratefield measures
  • Select products based on proper application then generate furniture layouts,typicalsand budget estimates
  • Follow building, fire & ADA codes as they relate to furniture
  • Present to client in person and virtually using CET
  • Determinethe color,materialand finishpalettefor all products
  • Produce complete drawings using AutoCAD and CET
  • Createaccuratefurniture specifications using current price books, planningguidesandclient standards
  • Request furniture specials, vendorquotesand COMs as needed
  • Finalize and generate all necessary drawings and project documentsrequiredfor installation
  • Complete project closeouts, correct punch issues, and update master drawings
  • Maintain project status in Microsoft Planner
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Stay current with vendor pricing, productlaunchesand updates as well as discontinued and restricted items fromMillerKnolland other key furniture vendors
  • Mentorothersto navigate large/complex projects untiladequateskills are gainedfor themto work independently
  • Maintain a low history of errors and high spec accuracy scores
  • Complete Key Performance Indicators andparticipatein a yearly performance review
  • FulfillMillerKnollDealer Certification requirements as assigned
  • Participate invendor presentationsand optionalDEI activitiesand IIDA events
  • Attend design meetings, design training events and sales/project management meetings as needed
  • Attend1-on-1sessions with Design Leaders and bring questions, career development, or HR concerns to them
  • Perform other duties or special projects assigned
KNOWLEDGE
  • Strong working knowledge ofMillerKnollfamily of brands
  • Able to curate solutions from an expansive product portfolio: furniture systems, ancillary, accessories
  • Understand how electrical and cabling work within the furniture system and connect to the building
  • Understand building systems, building codes,andADA as they relate to furniture and commercial interiors
  • Possessa high levelof graphic presentation skills
  • Strong communicator and able to present designs in internal and externalmeetings
  • Robust mentoring skills and ability to lead, train, and direct the work of others
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Professional experience and aBFA, BA or BS in interior design, architecture and planning from an accredited college or equivalent combination of education and industry experience; including a proventrack recordof leading projects
  • At least 5 years of Commercial Furniture Dealership experience
  • NCIDQ, WELL, and/or LEED certificationsvalued
  • Demonstrated skill using 2D/3D software,proficient in CET Designer,AutoCAD, and Microsoft Suite
