Job summary

Google is seeking a Senior Staff Design Technologist for AI Systems in New York. You will bridge design strategy and engineering execution, building functional prototypes to test AI system behaviors before production. You will code as a design medium to explore agentic interaction across modalities and models.

The role requires extensive front-end development and UX/design experience, plus hands-on work integrating LLMs into web-based prototypes and mentoring peers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years technical/UX/design experience.
• 8 years of experience in front-end development on one or more platforms.
• Experience integrating LLMs or agentic tools into web-based prototypes.
• Experience with vibe coding tools, including AI Studio, Cursor, Antigravity, Firebase Studio.
• Preferred: experience driving system thinking, strategy and AI adoption across UX workflows.

Responsibilities

• Deliver innovative, engaging prototypes using the latest in front-end technologies.
• Advise, collaborate with, and synthesize feedback from UX designers and researchers.
• Fulfill several project requests simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
• Serve as a mentor for junior UX engineers and peers.
• Assist front-end engineers with final development of Google products.
