Job summary

Builders FirstSource, a leading supplier of building materials, is seeking a design technician to originate and check layout drawings for structural wood products. You will collaborate with outside sales and assign work to technicians while ensuring high-quality results.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree or equivalent, experience with PrimeCad, AutoCAD, Word and Excel, and the ability to review plans against codes and standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school.
• 6 months to 1 year related experience and/or training.
• Experience with PrimeCad, MS Word, MS Excel, and AutoCAD is required.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with outside sales personnel and customers to complete structures with high quality.
• Assigns work to technicians and ensures timely completion.
• Mentor less experienced technicians and review drawings before field release.
• Develops layout and design drawings from architectural drawings or sketches.
• Review plans to ensure compliance with building codes and standards.
• Communicate project progress to management and maintain records.
