RB Global is seeking a hands‑on Staff Design System Lead to set the strategy and advance our MUI and React design system. The foundation is in place; we need a senior leader with a proven record of evolving design systems that work for product designers and engineers—not just in a style guide.

Qualifications

• 9+ years in product design with design system maturation
• Hands‑on with MUI/React‑based libraries and theming
• Portfolio showing systems thinking and adoption across teams
• Fluency in Figma (variants, auto layout) and design‑to‑code workflows
• Strong visual craft with typography, layout, color, motion
• Experience partnering with engineering on architecture and constraints
• Experience running intake/prioritization for shared platforms
• Track record distilling input from multiple designers into scalable decisions
• Knowledge of WCAG accessibility built into systems
• AI tooling experience or interest to enable self‑serve for non‑designers

Responsibilities

• Define multi‑year vision and roadmap for the design system
• Lead foundations, components, tokens, and documentation
• Collaborate with product designers to evolve components based on feedback
• Maintain a synced component library in Figma with MUI/React implementation
• Extend beyond default Material Design to achieve a distinct RB look
• Establish a token system supporting theming and scalability
• Elevate craft with high polish and motion
• Own illustration and imagery guidelines to reinforce brand
• Define governance, versioning, and contribution models
• Document usage guidelines and onboarding resources
• Partner with frontend engineers on architecture and release planning
• Manage intake and prioritization of design system requests
• Leverage AI to make design system self‑serve and extensible
• Ensure accessibility standards are WCAG compliant
