Job summary

Sportech, located in Elk River, MN, seeks a Sr. Design Quality Engineer to guide quality initiatives across NPD projects and support product development.

You will partner with design, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure APQP processes and PPAP milestones are met, maintaining high standards of quality and customer satisfaction. The role requires 7+ years relevant experience, strong GD&T and drawing-reading skills, and leadership abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred with 7+ years related experience.
• Knowledge of AIAG standards, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, Control Plans, and MSA.
• ISO 9001 and/or ISO/TS 16949 quality systems knowledge.
• Reading engineering drawings with GD&T per ASME 14.5Y.
• Strong leadership and supervision experience.
• Some travel required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary quality partner supporting new product development teams.
• Distribute work across team members, oversee completion, and provide feedback.
• Interface with customers to ensure requirements are agreed upon in acceptance stages.
• Collaborate with supply chain and suppliers to meet quality standards.
• Review and approve engineering drawings for projects.
• Ensure successful prototype, pre-production, production approvals.
• Lead APQP activities and training on PPAP, FMEA, control plans.
• Manage project milestones and communicate lessons learned.
• Proactively identify design risks and drive risk reduction.
