Job summary

The City of Indianapolis is seeking a Design Management Engineer to oversee local, federal, and multi-modal transportation design projects across Marion County. You will assist Project Managers in engineering activities related to design management and ensure timely delivery within budgets and regulatory requirements.

The role requires initiative, independent judgment, and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or certification in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Technology, Architecture, or related field and 5+ years of equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of City, State, and FHWA policies and specifications as they relate to City infrastructure construction.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; conflict resolution abilities.

Responsibilities

• Provides oversight to design management of local, federal, multi-modal transportation, structural and stormwater projects.
• Provides technical assistance in design specification, plan interpretation, scheduling and planning to Project Managers.
• Ensures design management activity is performed on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with statutes, ordinances, specifications and contract requirements.
• Maintains confidentiality at all times.
• May be expanded with other duties as needed by management.
