Job summary

Balfour Beatty is seeking a Design Manager to join our SoCal team supporting OC and LA offices. The DM coordinates with owners, the builder, trades, and design team on design-build projects to ensure quality, on-time delivery, constructability, and cost control.

The role involves leading design pursuits, developing GMPs, coordinating schedules, and overseeing cost trends while collaborating across owners, designers, and field teams. A DBIA certification and professional licensure are a plus.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of experience on design projects with design teams.
• Experience working directly with owners or owners’ representatives.
• Experience in design-build pursuits, including development of pursuit submissions/responses and GMPs.
• Experience in developing and analyzing cost estimates and contract documents; bidding experience is a plus.
• DBIA Certification or desire to obtain within 1 year of employment.
• Professional licensure as Architect or Engineer is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead design RFQ/RFP responses and manage the GMP development.
• Coordinate design progress against schedules and manage cost impacts.
• Collaborate with owners, designers, and trades to resolve design and constructability issues.
• Develop and maintain design and permit schedules.
• Lead meetings with owners, regulators, and project team.
