Job summary

RTX seeks a Senior Design Engineer in Portsmouth, RI to lead design, modeling, and documentation of large assemblies using CREO. The role focuses on advanced 3D modeling within the Undersea & Electronics Systems division.

You will collaborate with engineers and suppliers to develop the TDP, ensure compliance, and generate drawings. A degree plus CAD experience is required, with US citizenship and clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent with 5+ years of experience, or an advanced degree with 3+ years experience.
  • Experience with CAD tools and advanced modeling and drawing.
  • Experience with GD&T (ASME Y-14.5) and drawing interpretation for mechanical hardware.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
  • US citizenship is required for clearance eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Design, model, and document large assemblies and sub-assemblies in CREO.
  • Communicate with engineers and suppliers to prepare the TDP and ensure compliance with configuration and drafting requirements.
  • Support development, evaluation, and analysis of mechanical designs.

The Raytheon Hardware Engineering Organization leads the hardware design, development and production support of a wide breadth of air, land, sea, and space systems. Within the Hardware Engineering Organization, the Undersea & Electronics Systems (UES) Department leads the mechanical and electrical design, development, and integration of a diverse set of products, including but not limited to undersea sensors and analysis, naval platforms, shipboard/ground-based processing and power equipment, and launchers.

The UES department is looking for full-time Senior Design Engineer, with a Focus of Advanced 3D Modeling, located in Portsmouth, RI.

What You Will Do

Work with engineers across the business to propose, design, develop, integrate, and document detailed designs of large assemblies and sub-assemblies within the mechanical design department using CREO

Communicate with engineering team members and suppliers to design, model, and document the design technical data package (TDP) and its capabilities and compliance with configuration and drafting requirements

Support development, evaluation, and analysis of mechanical designs

Generate and release engineering drawings and drawing change incorporation

Utilize CREO for modeling and documentation creation.

Qualifications - You Must Have
  • A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
  • Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools, with advanced modeling and drawing experience.
  • Experience with any Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), tolerance analyses, drawing practices and interpretation (ASME Y-14.5) for mechanical hardware.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications - We Prefer
  • Experience in CREO Parametric, CREO View and Model Based Definition (MBD).
  • Experience in PDM/Windchill.
  • Experience in multiple CAD Design Tools: SolidWorks/CREO/AutoCAD/CATIA/NX.
  • Solid understanding of configuration management practices.
  • Experience with military, or aerospace specifications and/or industry design standards.
  • Strong technical background with high technical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Very strong communications and interpersonal skills when working with team members.

Salary

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD.

The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
