Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Lafayette, IN is seeking a Design Engineer for the Large Power Systems Division Core Packaging group to concept and design mechanical systems that meet performance, quality and cost targets while delivering on time.

You will lead projects, manage workload, collaborate with suppliers, and drive robust product development, validation and manufacturing integration, leveraging Creo and APQP-related processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Approximately 6 years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree or higher.
• Experience with Creo or other modeling tools.

Responsibilities

• Resolves complex design issues.
• Key point of contact for shop support and issue resolution.
• Collaborate with suppliers for design, process, cost and deviation evaluation.
• Lead component and supplier strategy initiatives.
• Lead robust product development excellence initiatives.
• Support product validation.
• Deliver robust and validated design on time to meet deliverables.
• Communicate technical information succinctly and accurately.
