Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Plant Project Engineer - Electrical in the Large Power Systems Division, located in Lafayette, IN. This role provides technical leadership to ensure economical design, construction, installation and maintenance of facilities, systems and equipment for major projects.

Responsibilities include design information, cost estimation, drawing approval, and supervision of contractors. Mobility and collaboration with operations and suppliers are essential to success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Experience with electrical design for facilities and production equipment.
• Ability to collaborate with operations, contractors and suppliers.
• Strong problem solving and project management skills.
• Experience with electrical standards and industry codes.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical design information and approve proposals with internal partners.
• Maintain electrical standards and write progress reports.
• Estimate costs for equipment and installation to evaluate ROI.
• Approve drawings and issue purchase requisitions.
• Supervise outside contractors for capital projects.
• Troubleshoot failures and improve systems.
• Connect production machinery to factory networks for Industry 4.0 analytics.
• Create technical specs for facilities related projects.
• Provide leadership to facilities engineers and coordinate contract firms.
