Job summary

ManpowerGroup is seeking a Senior Design Engineer in Minnesota to drive new product development and cost reduction in a manufacturing setting. You’ll design using SolidWorks, validate with FEA, and lead cross-functional teams through design reviews and production launches.

The role requires a strong background in mechanical design, 5+ years of experience, and expertise in injection molding and die casting. Onsite in Owatonna, MN with a competitive compensation package.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years of product design or product development engineering experience.
• Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks.
• Experience with engineering analysis and FEA tools.
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Ability to lead projects and work effectively within cross-functional teams.
• Excellent communication and technical documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead product design and development activities from concept through production launch.
• Develop detailed customer, product, and functional requirements.
• Create 3D CAD models, assemblies, and engineering drawings using SolidWorks.
• Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analyses, and design validation activities.
• Utilize Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to evaluate and optimize product performance.
• Design components and assemblies for injection molding, die casting, and other manufacturing processes.
• Conduct and participate in Design Reviews, DFMEA, and risk assessments.
• Develop prototypes and oversee prototype evaluations.
• Support Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and cost-reduction initiatives.
• Execute product testing, validation, and accelerated lifecycle testing.
• Provide technical leadership for product improvements and customization efforts.
• Support manufacturing implementation and continuous improvement projects.
