Job summary

Ideal Steel, LLC in Broussard, LA is seeking a Design Engineer to lead the structural design and analysis of metal building systems. You will evaluate loads, perform calculations, review project specs, and ensure compliance with building codes and standards.

Collaborating with Sales, Estimating, Detailing, Project Management, and Manufacturing, you’ll develop cost-effective, practical solutions while maintaining manufacturability and quality.

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of structural design experience.
• Experience with metal building systems or commercial construction.
• Experience using Metal Building Software (MBS) or similar.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification; PE license preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Design complete metal building systems including primary and secondary framing.
• Analyze structures for wind, seismic, snow, and crane loading.
• Perform structural calculations and ensure code compliance.
• Review drawings, contracts, and project specifications.
• Provide technical support to sales and estimating.
• Respond to RFIs and engineering clarifications.
• Collaborate with project teams to resolve design issues.
