Job summary

GE Appliances, a Haier company, Louisville, KY, is seeking a Senior Design Engineer (P3) to lead the design and validation of clothes care components and subsystems. You will own concepts through production, balancing performance, quality, cost, and manufacturability while partnering with Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing and Commercial teams.

The role requires strong fundamentals in mechanical engineering, GD&T, tolerance analysis, and experience with Creo.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant component, subsystem, or mechanical product design experience.
• Experience taking mechanical designs from concept through validation and production implementation.
• Experience designing and testing plastic and/or metal components.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals and the ability to apply them to complex design problems.
• Experience understanding and managing component interfaces and system interactions.
• Working knowledge of GD&T, dimensional controls, and tolerance analysis.
• Ability to develop and execute test plans, analyze results, and communicate conclusions clearly.
• Experience evaluating multiple design alternatives with engineering analysis, risk, and cost considerations to converge on optimal solutions.
• Experience applying tools such as FEA, DOE, DFMEA, P-diagrams, and statistical analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop optimized component and subsystem solutions balancing performance, quality, reliability, cost, manufacturability, and schedule.
• Maintain engineering ownership from concept through production implementation including documentation and release.
• Execute NPI and COQ-related projects with risk and cost considerations.
• Frame complex problems using first-principles thinking and develop robust technical solutions.
• Develop design concepts using analysis, prototyping, testing, and evaluation.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Sourcing, Systems Engineering, and Commercial teams.
