Position: Senior Design Engineer – HVAC

Position Summary:

As a Senior Design Engineer at Southland Industries, you'll work on design-build and design-assist projects in healthcare, education, biotech, mission critical, commercial and entertainment markets. You’ll collaborate with model coordinators, estimators, and trade staff to create practical, efficient, and cost-effective designs.

What you’ll do:

1. Serve as design professional at project team design meetings.
2. Prepare complex preliminary Bluebeam design layouts for estimating.
3. Perform complex calculations for a project, such as heating/cooling loads, equipment selection and sizing, friction loss calculations, etc.
4. Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with construction documents and resolve design issues during construction.
5. Supervise or direct the workflow of less-experienced engineers in performing HVAC or other system designs.
6. Provide conceptual design for specific projects.

What you Need to be Successful:

1. Four-year degree in Engineering or related field.
2. 5+ years experience minimum, 10+ years experience preferred, specifically in HVAC design.
3. PE License required.
4. Excellent knowledge of applicable systems design, such as HVAC, piping, etc.
5. Understanding of Process Piping is a plus.
6. Ability to manage and mentor junior engineers.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
8. Strong public speaking skills.

Required Skills:

1. Four-year degree in Engineering or related field.
2. 5+ years minimum, 10+ years preferred experience specifically in HVAC building design.
3. PE License required.
4. Excellent knowledge of applicable systems design, such as HVAC, plumbing, etc.
5. Capable of using REVIT.
6. Process Piping knowledge a plus.
7. Strong computer skills, including Revit, CADD and Microsoft Office Products.

Pay: Final pay is determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data. For Colorado/New York City/California/Washington, this ranges from $155,000.00-$175,000.00 plus annual incentive, benefits and retirement program.
