Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. in Lafayette, IN is seeking a Senior Design Engineer- Controls Packaging to design and package generator set control systems for diesel and gas engines. You will lead cross-functional teams and manage scope, schedule, and cost while delivering robust control solutions.

Required degree in Electrical Engineering and strong experience with control panels, CAD tools, and standards. Location is onsite in Lafayette with relocation support and travel under 10%.

Qualifications

• Degree required or preferred: Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Minimum related experience: involvement in generator control panels or power systems.
• Familiarity with IEEE, NEMA, UL and IEC standards for testing and rating electrical machines.

Responsibilities

• Participate in and lead project management for generator set control system packaging development.
• Develop optimal control system solutions meeting marketing, customer and project objectives.
• Collaborate with purchasing to identify supply chain partners for control system components.
• Lead cost-reduction efforts for control system components and assemblies.
• Maintain responsibility for generator control system engineering development and maintenance.
• Plan, analyze, and test to validate new product designs.
