Job summary

Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Senior Design Engineer for the G3500 platform in Lafayette, IN. You will lead engine design, validation, and NPI/CPI programs, collaborating with marketing, validation, and supplier teams.

The role requires a mechanical engineering background, strong analytical skills, and experience with design reviews, BOM management, and Teamcenter. Onsite five days a week with substantial travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Strong analytical and communication skills with cross-functional teamwork experience.
• Experience with design validation, FMEAs, and BOM management is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, and validation of G3500 engines through NTI, NPI, and CPI.
• Host design reviews and coordinate with marketing, validation, and L3 teams.
• Manage BOM, Teamcenter models, and procurement for new components.
• Support prototype builds, field testing, and customer inquiries.
• Drive Six Sigma CPI projects and continuous improvement.
• Travel up to 90% during project phases, average ~15%.
