RTX seeks a Senior Design Engineer to join the Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO) in Middletown, CT. You will execute mechanical design activities, analyze hardware, and collaborate across IPTs to resolve technical challenges and deliver quality solutions.

Required are a Bachelor's in Engineering with 5 years of relevant aerospace design experience, strong 3D CAD and RCCA experience, and willingness to travel about 10% for domestic/intl engagements.

Responsabilidades

  • Execute mechanical design activities and medium-scale engineering projects, coordinating cross-functional tasks to meet scope, schedule, budget, and technical requirements.
  • Perform mechanical design analyses to ensure hardware meets form, fit, and function requirements; evaluate product improvements and support Class II Engineering Changes.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, and suppliers to resolve manufacturing, assembly, engine build, teardown, and MRO-related technical issues.
  • Participate in design reviews, trade studies, and technical problem-solving activities while communicating program status, technical risks, and recommendations to engineering leadership.
  • Support continuous improvement through standard work, RCCA, and data-driven engineering practices, while providing technical guidance to less-experienced engineers.

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join the Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO) organization. In this role, you will support mechanical design execution, cross-functional engineering activities, technical problem-solving, and delivery of engineering commitments. You will collaborate with Component Integrated Product Team (CIPT), Integrated Program Management Team (IPMT), System Integrated Product Team (SIPT), Chief Engineers, customers, operations, quality, supply chain, and suppliers to resolve technical challenges, manage design risks, and deliver high-quality engineering solutions.

Work Schedule: Alternate Work Week (AWW) - Friday-Sunday, 6:00 AM-6:00 PM.

What You Will Do:
  • Execute mechanical design activities and medium-scale engineering projects, coordinating cross-functional tasks to meet scope, schedule, budget, and technical requirements.

  • Support continuous improvement through standard work, Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), and data-driven engineering practices, while providing technical guidance to less-experienced engineers.

Travel Requirement : 10% (Domestic, International).

What You Will Learn:
  • Gain experience supporting ESTO engineering activities within a global aerospace organization.
  • Develop technical expertise in mechanical design, gas turbine hardware, solid modeling, and engineering analysis.
  • Gain exposure to engine builds, teardowns, Engine Centers, and MRO operations.
  • Build cross-functional leadership skills through collaboration with engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, suppliers, and customers.
  • Develop skills in technical risk management, design reviews, trade studies, RCCA, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering with 5 years of relevant design experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant design experience. Relevant experience in mechanical design engineering within aerospace, gas turbine, manufacturing, or a related engineering environment performing mechanical design analysis and evaluating form, fit, and function requirements.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Experience with gas turbine engine hardware, mechanical systems, or aerospace propulsion components.
  • Skilled with 3D solid modeling and mechanical engineering analysis tools.
  • Experience with Class II Engineering Changes, RCCA, design reviews, trade studies, engine builds/teardowns, or MRO activities.
  • Collaborate with IPTs, CIPTs, IPMTs, SIPTs, Chief Engineers, customers, suppliers, operations, and quality organizations.
  • Provide technical guidance to less-experienced engineers and contribute to process improvement and standard work.
