Job summary

RTX, a leading aerospace and defense company, seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support ESTO in West Palm Beach, FL. The role focuses on production support for commercial and military products, including quality notifications, corrective actions, engineering changes, and cost reduction initiatives.

You will work cross-functionally with operations, quality, procurement, engineering SMEs, and suppliers to drive root-cause solutions and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience in mechanical engineering, design, manufacturing, production support, or a related engineering discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Lead corrective-action activities associated with Quality Notifications (QNs), cost reduction, and producibility initiatives, driving issues from root-cause investigation through implementation and closure.
  • Develop Class II engineering change packages using Pro-Cert methodology and data-driven decision-making to improve quality, cost, and product/process producibility.
  • Lead Engineering First Piece Reviews at suppliers, Cost of Poor Quality and production improvement initiatives, identify process waste, and proactively eliminate recurring QNs and repeat analysis.
  • Collaborate with operations, quality, procurement, engineering SMEs, outsource teams, and suppliers to develop and implement product and process improvements while strengthening technical execution.
  • Prepare and present technical content and program status to CIPTs, CSE/ESTO management, and Program Management, while capturing lessons learned and driving continuous improvement into the product development cycle.

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a goal-oriented, detail-focused Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to support the Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO) team in West Palm Beach, Florida. What You Will Learn:
  • Gain experience leading quality notification workflows and corrective-action activities for commercial and military aerospace products.
  • Develop expertise in engineering change processes, Pro-Cert methodology, cost reduction, and producibility improvement.
  • Build cross-functional leadership experience through collaboration with operations, quality, procurement, engineering SMEs, and outsource organizations.
  • Gain exposure to CIPT processes and opportunities to develop technical proficiency toward CIPT Delegate Approver responsibilities for applicable hardware part families.
  • Strengthen technical communication, leadership, problem-solving, and continuous improvement skills.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering with 5 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant experience. Relevant experience in mechanical engineering, design, manufacturing, production support, or a related engineering discipline.
Qualifications We Prefer:
  • Aerospace industry experience in a design and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, SAP, Teamcenter, Unigraphics/NX, ANSYS, and classical engineering analysis methods.
  • Understanding of aerospace hardware, engineering blueprints/drawings, and manufacturing methods.
  • Experience with Quality Notifications, engineering changes, Cost of Poor Quality, or producibility improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and cultural-awareness skills.
