Job summary

Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc. in Farmington Hills, MI, is seeking a Design Engineer IV to manage multiple programs from quotes through mass production.

You will develop timelines, coordinate vendors, and lead PPAP-related activities while ensuring customer deliverables meet quality and schedule targets. The role requires extensive engineering and design experience with North American OEMs, strong communication with customers, and the ability to drive root-cause analysis and corrective

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or design required.
• 7-10 years progressive engineering experience.
• Experience working with North American OEMs.
• Understanding of USCAR and North American automotive requirements.
• Experience with manufacturing processes and product development.

Responsibilities

• Develop timelines with input from the customer and internal departments to meet deliveries.
• Set up and track budgets for each program assigned.
• Attend all customer meetings including required onsite meetings.
• Interface between manufacturing groups and report project status.
• Collaborate with SEWS Wire Harness group to pursue new opportunities.
• Ensure PPAP release in coordination with Manufacturing and Production Control.
• Lead customer communications to determine root causes and countermeasures.
