Job summary

SPG International, LLC is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join the on-site Covington, GA team. You will lead CAD modeling and engineering calculations for storage systems and material handling products, review customer specs, and drive design improvements across cross-functional teams.

You will mentor junior engineers, ensure conformance to safety and manufacturing standards, and contribute to production-ready documentation and testing programs.

Role Description

The Senior Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site position based in Covington Ga.. This role is a member of the the design and development team of storage systems and material handling products, from concept through production. Daily activities include creating and refining CAD models and drawings, performing engineering calculations, collaborating with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, operations, quality, and sales), and ensuring designs meet performance, cost, and safety requirements. The Senior Design Engineer will review customer specifications, propose design solutions, support prototype builds and testing, and drive continuous improvement in product design and engineering processes. This role also provides technical guidance to other engineers and designers and helps maintain engineering standards and documentation.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in Design Engineering and Product Design for industrial or commercial equipment.
• Proficiency in Mechanical Engineering principles, including stress analysis, materials selection, and manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on experience with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) for 3D modeling and detailed drawings.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field; advanced degree is a plus.
• Experience in product development within manufacturing environments, preferably in storage systems or material handling.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and design-for-manufacture and design-for-assembly practices.
• Strong problem-solving skills, ability to manage multiple projects, and capacity to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills for technical documentation and collaboration.
• Previous experience in a senior or lead engineering role and mentoring less experienced team members is beneficial.
