Job summary

The Imagine Group is seeking a Senior Product Design Engineer to lead the design and development of precision-engineered products from concept to production. You’ll work with engineering, manufacturing, and marketing to deliver high-quality solutions that meet customer needs and industry standards.

You will guide cross-functional teams, document specifications, and mentor junior engineers while driving design optimization and process improvements across the lifecycle.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in product design engineering, preferably in a senior or lead role.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading design projects from concept through production.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, marketing, and sales.
  • Strong proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to think creatively and strategically.
  • Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present ideas clearly and effectively.
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and precision in design work.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of new products from concept through production, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, marketing, and manufacturing, to optimize product designs and processes.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify customer needs and market trends, integrating findings into product design strategies.
  • Develop and maintain detailed design documentation, including specifications, drawings, and reports.
  • Utilize advanced design software and tools to create and test prototypes, ensuring functionality and performance meet established criteria.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure timely delivery of high-quality products.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve design processes to enhance efficiency and product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations throughout the product design and development process.
  • Participate in design reviews, providing constructive feedback to improve product designs and outcomes.

Positional Overview

The Imagine Group is recruiting for a Senior Product Design Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading global manufacturer of precision-engineered temperature sensors, compression seal fittings, and cable and harness assemblies serving a wide range of industries, including aerospace, semiconductor, power generation, and oil and gas. With decades of engineering and manufacturing expertise, the company delivers both standard and custom-designed solutions focused on quality, reliability, and performance.

In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and improving precision-engineered products and components, ensuring they meet customer specifications, performance requirements, and quality standards. You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams to develop innovative solutions, troubleshoot design challenges, and support products throughout the development and production lifecycle.
