Job summary

Eagle County Government is seeking a Deputy Director of Community Development to lead land-use file processes and supervise staff planners within the Community Development Department. The role includes complex planning work, coordinating with the Board of County Commissioners and Planning Commission, and providing staff support on a range of projects.

The successful candidate will oversee planning divisions, develop work plans, coach staff, and ensure compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) or more years of progressively-responsible experience implementing and enforcing land use regulations.
• Four (4) or more years of supervisory experience.
• Bachelor's degree in Urban/Regional Planning or related field; or equivalent.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• AICP certification desirable.

Responsibilities

• Delegate planning tasks and supervise staff planners.
• Develop work plans and methodologies to accomplish objectives.
• Provide guidance on policies and programs.
• Improve processes while complying with regulations.
• Attend pre-application meetings with stakeholders.
• Review applications for compliance with regulations.
• Prepare staff reports and presentations with GIS support.
• Support the Planning Commission and County Commissioners.
