Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Senior Department Administrator SPVR for the Music Department, Mason Gross School of the Arts ( MGSA ). Reporting directly to Director of Music Department and dotted line reporting MGSA Associate Dean for Finance & Administration, serves as the chief non-academic officer for the Music Department.

Among the key duties of the position are the following:

  • Provides administrative leadership in department accounting and budgeting, purchasing, personnel and payroll, facilities coordination, events, and all administrative, operational, and financial functions.
  • Manages departmental accounts, unrestricted and restricted accounts, including and not limited to, faculty research funds and grants, gifts, and endowment.
  • Builds and oversees a team of staff and ensuring an inviting, professional, responsive atmosphere for students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, or a related field, and at least five years of financial management experience, preferably in a non-profit or higher education setting.

  • Outstanding organizational, leadership, communication, and management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, balanced with an ability to meet deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA strongly preferred.
  • Experience in a higher education setting.
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud financial management, Jaeggar Marketplace, and Concur Travel and Expense Management.

  • Department physical footprint is spread across multiple buildings on the Douglass campus.
  • Frequent travel from building to building is required.
