UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, seeks a Department Administrator to lead the administrative team for the Advanced Imaging Research Center (AIRC). The role partners with senior leadership to ensure efficient operations, grants and financial management, and strategic planning aligned with research goals.

The position oversees budget, HR, space and capital planning, and educational programs within a growing autonomous center, delivering strategic support across faculty and staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required
• 6 years of directly related experience with Bachelor's Degree; 3 years in supervisory/management capacity
• Applicants without the stated preferred degree, but with significant additional related experience may be considered
• Master's degree preferred; 8 years of related experience with Master's Degree; 4 years in supervisory/management capacity

Responsibilities

• Provides strategic leadership, oversight and management over all aspects of day-to-day administration; collaborates with departmental leadership to implement strategic and operational plans.
• Supports and partners with the Chief Operating Officer for Academic Affairs on School of Medicine and Health System goals; handles administrative and financial issues.
• Manages development of new/existing programs; analyzes operational functioning; develops procedures; creates metrics to measure financial/operational impact; oversees space allocations and capital requests.
• Advises department and institution on fiscal matters; ensures fiscal control; monitors budget and financial performance; prepares/analyses financial reports; maintains internal controls.
• Oversees HR activities including recruitment, interviewing, salary analysis, visa management, and performance evaluations.
• Develops business plans/models; educates leadership in management and strategic planning; supports research expansion and community engagement.
• Directs administration of the department's research enterprise; oversees grant administration; supports major research proposals financially and administratively.
• Oversees promotion/tenure and faculty appointments processes; ensures policy compliance with School of Medicine Dean's Office.
• Develops programs/standards to monitor safety, service and quality improvement; implements training and allocation of resources.
• Provides administrative direction to educational programs; coordinates and oversees educational functions; collaborates with Chair/Director.
• Provides administrative direction to research support; ensures compliance with guidelines and laws; represents Chair/Director in absence.
• Maintains relationships with organizational peers; serves on committees; completes projects in a timely fashion; advocates 'service excellence'.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
