Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs VA Black Hills Health Care System is seeking a GS-6 Staff Dental Assistant to support operations at the Fort Meade, SD location.

The incumbent assists the dentist in direct patient care and performs clerical functions independently of direct supervision. Candidates may qualify with six months of relevant experience or a CODA-accredited one-year dental assistant program.

Qualifications

• Six months experience or completion of CODA-accredited dental assistant program.
• Certification in radiologic procedures per 42 CFR Part 75 or approved equivalent.
• Non-certified applicants may be given temporary appointment with opportunity to meet certification requirements.
• English language proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Assist the dentist in direct patient care and in clerical duties.
• Operate independently of direct supervision.
• Support activities across restorative, surgical, endodontic and periodontal care.
