Job summary

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs to fill a Dental Assistant position within the VA Black Hills Health Care System at Hot Springs, SD. The incumbent supports dentists in direct patient care and clerical tasks with a high degree of independence.

This role emphasizes knowledge of dental procedures, radiographic safety, and use of electronic records while upholding HIPAA and infection control standards. The schedule runs Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm, with competitive federal pay.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of oral anatomy and dental procedures.
• Ability to identify instruments and materials used in restorative, surgical, endodontic and periodontal care.
• Proficiency with dental imaging and radiographic safety.
• Familiarity with electronic dental records and standard infection control.

Responsibilities

• Set up operatory/surgery suite for planned procedures and ensure timely turnover.
• Pass instruments safely and efficiently during procedures.
• Assist in routine and specialized dental procedures as needed.
• Capture diagnostic dental images of good quality.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
