Job summary

HD Supply is seeking a Demand Planner to analyze forecasts and support S&OP for high-volume, complex categories across the enterprise. You will develop data-driven forecasts and provide actionable analyses, while mentoring junior teammates to improve overall planning maturity.

The role collaborates with multiple departments to onboard new products, retire outdated lines, and optimize promotion-driven demand using JD&A and analytics. A BS/BA is required with 5–8 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in a related discipline; 5–8 years of experience OR MS/MA with 3–5 years of experience; certification in some areas.
• Experience in demand forecasting for high-volume, complex categories and ability to create repeatable processes.
• Ability to lead small teams and mentor associates; strong communication with stakeholders.

Job Summary

Uses sales and operations processes, tools, and methodologies to analyze, improve, and recommend demand forecasts and enhancements for high volume and complex product categories. Provides actionable data analyses to support business cases for demand plans using data-driven methods. Serves as a mentor for other individual contributors on the team.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities

• Develops and executes forecasts to support the enterprise sales and operations planning process for all high volume and complex categories across all business segments and sales verticals.
• Executes demand planning for specific product categories, including creating repeatable processes and developing one-off and recurring demand analytics. Delivers the total demand forecasts.
• Participates in onboarding and mentoring new associates. Performs check-ins and determines readiness and training needs.
• Leads small teams in periodic special projects that require analytics and strategy.
• Measures, analyzes, and improves forecast accuracy with segment-specific corrective actions, process enhancements, and JDA system enhancements. Communicates results and actions taken to stakeholders. Leads a workstream that maintains forecast accuracy for one or more sales verticals.
• Creates statistical forecasts. Identifies and quantifies risks using established quantitative methods and application software.
• Collaborates with various departments to incorporate the onboarding of new products, retirement of old products, customer-specific forecast requirements, regulatory changes, and promotions into the demand planning process.
• Works with inventory analytics to understand the relationship of the forecast to the open-to-buy plan.

Nature and Scope

• Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations. Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems. Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.
• Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to the expected results. Determines and develops an approach to solutions. Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.
• May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc. Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.

Work Environment

• Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
• Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.
• Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Education and Experience

Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in a related field. Certification is required in some areas.
