Job summary

Saab AB is seeking a Principal Program Manager to lead profitable development programs in the Surveillance division from our East Syracuse, NY office.

The candidate will bring deep experience in large-scale radar systems, EVMS, and aerospace/defense program management, with responsibilities spanning budgets, schedules, and strategic growth, including up to 25% travel and collaboration with Sales and Product Management to win new business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 10+ years of Program Management experience in aerospace/defense with $50M–$100M+ programs.
• Extensive experience negotiating multi-million dollar agreements with large Aerospace and Defense customers.
• Demonstrated track record leading large scale aerospace and defense business capture efforts.
• Advanced knowledge of program management standards (scheduling, cost accounting, EVMS, Risk/Opportunity management).
• Ability to contribute to development strategy and lead strategic initiatives.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Specifically accountable for cost, schedule and technical performance of assigned program portfolios.
• Establish and control program budgets aligned with program needs.
• Ensure all projects are managed and executed within approved PM processes.
• Make personnel recommendations in support of business objectives.
• Drive Earned Value Management principles and reporting.
• Oversee profitable growth of the program segment.
• Identify and pursue significant new business opportunities.
• Collaborate with Sales and Product Management to maintain knowledge of competitive landscape.
• Develop competitive proposals to meet objectives.
• Collaborate across functions to leverage execution and capture strategies.
• Grow relationships in the customer community and with large primes.
• Provide consistent leadership to the program execution staff to ensure high-quality delivery.
• Monitor and guide junior PMs to achieve delivery of high-quality products and services.
• Contribute to development and retention of program management talent.
