Orion Placement on Long Island seeks an accomplished defense litigation attorney with 8+ years of experience and an active New York bar. Join an established civil defense practice handling insurance defense, construction litigation, premises liability, and professional malpractice, with ownership of cases and direct client contact.

Qualifications

• Active New York bar admission in good standing.
• 8+ years of defense litigation experience.
• At least 1 year of construction litigation and/or New York Labor Law experience.
• Experience managing litigation matters independently from inception through resolution.
• Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, advocacy, and communication skills.
• Experience handling depositions, discovery, motions, hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
• Excellent organization, judgment, attention to detail, and client-service skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse caseload of insurance defense and civil litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Develop and execute effective litigation strategies tailored to each client and case.
• Handle discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, mediations, settlement negotiations, and trial preparation.
• Represent clients in matters involving premises liability, motor vehicle accidents, professional malpractice, construction litigation, New York Labor Law, municipal law, and related defense matters.
• Analyze liability, damages, coverage, and litigation risks and provide practical recommendations to clients.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence, reports, and other litigation documents.
• Communicate directly with clients, insurers, claims professionals, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders.
• Maintain strong client relationships through responsive communication and timely case reporting.
• Work collaboratively with attorneys and legal professionals while exercising sound independent judgment.
