Job summary

Orion Placement seeks a senior civil litigation attorney to lead construction defect and general liability defense matters in California. You will own your caseload, develop litigation strategy, supervise staff, and collaborate across Sacramento and Pleasant Hill offices in a hybrid work arrangement.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of civil litigation experience, active CA Bar license, and strong writing/advocacy skills.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of civil litigation experience.
• Construction defect and/or general liability defense experience required.
• Active California Bar license is required.
• Experience handling discovery, depositions, motions, and court appearances.
• Strong legal research, writing, negotiation, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex matters with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage construction defect and general liability defense cases from inception through resolution.
• Develop litigation strategy in partnership with clients and senior attorneys.
• Draft, propound, and respond to all phases of written discovery.
• Take and defend depositions of parties, fact witnesses, and expert witnesses.
• Prepare and argue law and motion matters, including demurrers and summary judgment motions.
• Appear in court for hearings, case management conferences, and trial-related proceedings.
• Communicate with clients regarding strategy, developments, and risk.
• Supervise paralegals and support staff; mentor junior attorneys.
• Collaborate with Sacramento and Pleasant Hill offices to serve California clients.
