Job summary

IDS is seeking an experienced cost estimating authority to serve as the operational cost method authority on a federal applied research program. Remote or hybrid work in the United States, with occasional travel to the National Capital Region.

Active Secret clearance required; Top Secret with SCI eligibility preferred. The role involves adjudicating estimating methods, approving results, and mentoring fellow estimators across the team, with responsibilities to develop cost model architectures

Qualifications

• Minimum fifteen years of cost analysis experience.
• Expertise in Air Force weapon systems and lifecycle cost drivers.
• Experience producing life cycle cost estimates for defense weapon systems.
• Ability to develop new cost estimating methodologies.
• Extensive knowledge of DoD data collection and reporting processes.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the operational cost method authority and adjudicate methods and results.
• Approve estimating methods and validation results before release as analytical products.
• Mentor and integrate with weapon system cost estimators and analysts.
• Develop cost model architectures, estimating methods, benchmarks, and templates for lifecycle estimates.
• Lead development of new cost estimating methodologies and data-collection improvements.
• Collect and normalize cost, technical, and program data from government sources.
• Apply cost risk and uncertainty practices, including probabilistic methods.
