Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Principal Deep Space RF Communications Architect to define end-to-end RF architectures for Mars and cislunar programs, covering TT&C, proximity links, relay crosslinks, and mission data links. You will work across NASA LunaNet, CCSDS standards, and cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, high‑throughput communications for interplanetary missions.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related technical field.
12+ years of RF systems engineering or related experience with space systems.
Experience designing TT&C, proximity link, relay crosslink, and mission data link systems for space vehicles.

Responsibilities

Define end-to-end RF comms architectures for Mars and cislunar programs.
Lead architecture trades and system-level analyses for deep space bands and link budgets.
Develop deep-space link budgets accounting for extreme distances and latency.
Create CONOPS, ICDs, and ADDs aligned with LunaNet, M2M, and CCSDS.
Collaborate with mission engineering and ground systems for end-to-end comms performance.
Coordinate with cross-functional engineering for seamless integration and operation.
Oversee high-gain antenna integration and advanced signal processing.
Engage with government and partners to capture requirements and influence programs.
Mentor RF engineers and contribute to proposals.
Identify emerging RF/optical tech and DTN protocols for interplanetary links.
Ensure compliance with ITAR, ITU/NTIA spectrum rules and NASA standards.
