Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks a Principal Deep Space RF Communications Architect to define end-to-end RF architectures for Mars and cislunar missions, spanning TT&C, proximity links, and data links. You will lead trades, assess deep-space bands, and optimize high-gain antennas for extreme distances.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Physics, or related field.
• 12+ years in RF systems engineering or related disciplines, with space-segment experience.
• Proven TT&C, proximity link, relay crosslink, or mission data link design experience.
• Strong RF link budget analysis, waveform design, modulation, coding, and high-gain antenna experience.
• Experience with RF design tools: Cadence AWR, Ansys HFSS, STK, MATLAB, Simulink.

Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end RF communications architectures for Mars and cislunar programs.
• Lead trades and system analyses for deep-space bands, waveforms, modulations, and antennas.
• Develop comprehensive deep-space link budgets and DTN protocol concepts.
• Create and maintain CONOPS, ICDs, and ADDs aligned with NASA LunaNet and CCSDS.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support proposals and reviews.
