You will evaluate deck-focused curricula, instructor qualifications, and course content against federal rules and NVICs, drafting formal recommendations and updates as needed.

The role emphasizes deck experience, regulatory knowledge, and ability to manage multiple course approvals monthly while coordinating with government stakeholders.

Qualifications

• MMC endorsement as Master of Unlimited Tonnage upon Oceans, or as Chief Mate of Unlimited Tonnage.
• Minimum of 5 years sailing experience under the credential.
• Clear, technically sound written communications with government reviewers.

Responsibilities

• Review course curricula, lesson plans, assessments, facilities, and instructor credentials against federal regs.
• Draft clear recommendation letters and correspondence to course providers.
• Maintain caseload and throughput for course approvals each month.
• Stay current on 46 CFR Parts 10–12, NVICs, and Marine Safety Manual updates.
