Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a data analytics professional to provide decision support for USAA business areas. You will apply advanced analytical techniques, gather and transform data, and synthesize findings into actionable insights for management.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, translate results into clear communications, and stay current on data science trends. The role emphasizes data hygiene, documentation, and scoping emerging technologies while delivering impact on business

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Sciences, Operations Research, Data and/or Business Analysis, Data Science, or a business or quantitative field; OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience
  • 6 years of data and analytics experience; OR at least 4 years of data and analytics experience plus up to 2 years of progressive functional business-relevant experience for 6 years combined; OR an advanced quantitative analytics degree and 4 years of data/analytics or relevant functional business experience
  • Advanced skills in mathematical and statistical techniques and approaches for fact-based decision-making
  • Advanced knowledge of data analysis tools, data visualization, SQL, SAS, BI tools or other analysis software, and relevant industry data and methods
  • Experience with new and emerging datasets, including data wrangling and data munging
  • Experience with advanced analytics and data science solutions derived from member feedback and Voice of Customer (VoC) CX data
  • Ability to synthesize member feedback with operational, behavioral, financial, and market data
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to translate data and trends into digestible narratives
  • US military experience gained through military service or as a military spouse/domestic partner is identified as a differentiator
  • Must not require visa sponsorship or immigration support now or in the future

Responsibilities

  • Provide decision support for business areas across USAA
  • Apply mathematical, statistical, scientific, and quantitative analytical techniques to solve complex business problems
  • Gather, manipulate, integrate, transform, and synthesize data, models, transactions, behaviors, and other relevant information
  • Draw conclusions and make insight-to-action recommendations that drive business change and strategy
  • Lead or participate in discussions with cross-functional teams to understand complex business objectives and influence solution strategies
  • Translate recommendations into communication materials for management
  • Use data visualization to clarify analysis for less technical audiences
  • Identify and gather relevant, high-quality data sources through testing or exploratory data analysis
  • Apply data hygiene techniques to disparate data sources
  • Document assumptions, methodology, validation, and testing for peer review and compliance
  • Adopt emerging technologies affecting scientific and quantitative methodologies
  • Deliver findings to influence management, business decisions, and strategy
  • Provide subject matter expertise in operationalizing recommendations
  • Stay informed on data and analytics trends including cloud, data mining, Python, neural networks, sensor data, IoT, and streaming/near-real-time data
  • Pursue ongoing formal and informal learning in data and analytics
  • Identify, measure, monitor, and control risks in accordance with policies and procedures
