Job summary

DebtBook is seeking a highly motivated Customer Success - Sr. Debt Specialist to join our Charlotte, NC team.

You will support complex debt implementations for local governments, higher education, and health systems, translating debt concepts into our platform and advising customers throughout the implementation. Ideal candidates bring a finance background, 4+ years in municipal finance, strong Excel skills, project management, and excellent written and verbal communication.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field is highly preferred.
• 4+ years of experience in municipal finance with understanding of debt issuances.
• Exceptional project management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, V-Lookups, complex formulas).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior finance professionals.
• Growth mindset and ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
• Bonus: Experience with CRM (Salesforce) or CS software (Gainsight).

Responsibilities

• Act as a subject matter expert and advisor on complex debt implementations.
• Join implementation scoping calls to understand data complexity and customer preferences.
• Structure customer data and translate debt concepts into the application.
• Collaborate on implementation project plans and ensure timelines are realistic.
• Provide guidance on complex data reconciliation with the implementation team.
• Work with the data team on questions, limitations, and issues during implementation.
• Join customer calls to explain decisions and system functionality when needed.
