About the RoleImagine starting your day reviewing a new HVAC retrofit: you arrive on site, validate sensors and actuators, then bring a fresh DDC sequence to life. By mid-morning, you’re collaborating with engineering and project managers to fine-tune control logic for energy savings. After lunch, you lead a small crew through a commissioning checklist, troubleshoot a stubborn communication issue, and wrap up by documenting changes so the next tech has a clear roadmap. If that sounds like your kind of day, this role is for you. What You’ll DoInstall, program, and commission DDC systems across commercial/industrial HVAC—controllers, sensors, actuators, and network devices included.Execute testing, verification, and root-cause troubleshooting to ensure peak performance and reliable operation.Partner with engineering and project management to design control strategies and sequences of operation.Lead and mentor a team of technicians handling installs, repairs, and upgrades.Deliver hands-on training and ongoing technical guidance to junior team members.Perform routine maintenance and preventive tasks that keep systems efficient and stable.Diagnose and resolve complex DDC/HVAC control issues in the field.Maintain precise records of configurations, adjustments, updates, and commissioning results.Stay current with emerging HVAC controls technologies, platforms, and best practices. What You BringAt least 1 year of experience working on HVAC controls with a DDC focus.Deep understanding of HVAC equipment, control theory, and field devices.Hands-on skill programming/configuring DDC platforms (e.g., Niagara 4/AX, Johnson, Distech, Honeywell).Experience integrating with BMS and automation ecosystems.Comfort with building automation protocols and standards: BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks.Ability to interpret control drawings, wiring schematics, and specifications.Exceptional troubleshooting ability and methodical problem-solving mindset.Leadership experience supervising and guiding field technicians.Strong organization and time management to drive multiple efforts in parallel.Clear communication and collaboration skills with clients, colleagues, and subcontractors.Preferred certifications: Niagara 4 and relevant HVAC/DDC programming credentials.CompensationEstimated salary: $27–$35 per hour, commensurate with experience and skills.
