Job summary

Sbf-Search, LLC is seeking an experienced Senior BAS/DDC Programmer / Engineer to join our Building Automation team. You will own projects from programming and startup through commissioning and turnover, working closely with customers and guiding a technical team.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on BAS/DDC programming experience, strong HVAC knowledge, and the ability to work independently in field and office environments. Hybrid field/office role with limited travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 5+ years of hands-on experience in electronics, HVAC, or related field.
• 5–7+ years of DDC/BAS/HVAC controls experience.
• Demonstrated experience independently programming BAS/DDC systems.
• Strong knowledge of BACnet/IP, Ethernet, and MS/TP networks.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, control drawings, and sequences of operation.
• Hybrid field/office work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Engineering to design and develop control solutions and project control drawings.
• Program DDC controllers and field devices for BAS projects.
• Commission systems and verify complete operation of HVAC sequences and components.
• Configure, test, and validate inputs, outputs, alarms, trends, histories, and archives.
• Develop site-specific BAS graphics and provide training to customers and end users.
• Troubleshoot complex BAS/DDC issues and provide expert-level technical support.
• Integrate third-party equipment and building systems using BACnet and other open protocols.
• Program and modify systems across multiple controls manufacturers and platforms.
• Read, interpret, and apply mechanical drawings, control drawings, and sequences of operation.
• Produce accurate as-built documentation and project turnover information.
• Troubleshoot, configure, and maintain BAS networks, servers, workstations, and job-site systems.
• Provide technical support and guidance to DDC technicians and installers.
• Mentor less-experienced technicians and help develop the team's technical capabilities.
• Coordinate with customers, engineers, technicians, installers, and other project stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.

This is an opportunity for a seasoned BAS/DDC professional who wants to take ownership of projects, work directly with customers, solve challenging technical problems, and serve as a technical leader and mentor to the team.

The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience programming and commissioning DDC/BAS systems , understands HVAC equipment and sequences of operation, and is comfortable working independently in both the field and office.

$55–$65 per hour , commensurate with experience

Primary Responsibilities

The Senior BAS/DDC Programmer / Engineer will play a key role in delivering Building Automation projects from programming and startup through commissioning and customer turnover.

Responsibilities include:

Required Qualifications

Associate degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, HVAC, or a related field OR 5+ years of equivalent hands-on experience

5–7+ years of DDC/BAS/HVAC controls experience

Demonstrated experience independently programming BAS/DDC systems

Strong knowledge of BACnet/IP, Ethernet, and MS/TP networks

Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including air-side and water-side applications

Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, control drawings, and sequences of operation

Experience troubleshooting BAS networks, controllers, workstations, and related equipment

Hands-on experience with servers, workstations, Microsoft Office, and IP LAN/WAN environments

Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions in the field

Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Ability to work effectively in a hybrid field/office environment with minimal supervision

Familiarity with multiple BAS platforms and controls manufacturers

Valid driver's license

Ability to pass standard pre-employment drug screening

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with Niagara Framework

Experience integrating third-party HVAC and building systems

Experience with multiple BAS manufacturers and programming environments

Previous experience mentoring technicians or leading technical project execution
