Job summary

Eliassen Group is seeking a Senior DBA for a remote contract role supporting a Federal Office of Child Support Enforcement program. You will design and optimize PostgreSQL and MySQL on Amazon RDS, automate deployments, and manage upgrades, recovery, and performance improvements across online and batch applications.

The role requires working with AWS Glue, Athena, and related services, plus containerized workloads on ECS/EKS. A US citizenship or permanent residency with public trust is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with AWS services and cloud-based DB design.
• Ability to design, deploy, and optimize PostgreSQL/MySQL on Amazon RDS.
• Experience with automation scripts (Python, Shell, Ansible).
• Security clearances and federal program experience are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements to propose database solutions for Java-based and AWS Glue/Spark systems.
• Coordinate with teams to define system requirements and data flows for DB components.
• Design and deploy scalable PostgreSQL/MySQL solutions on Amazon RDS.
• Create and maintain DB scripts, stored procedures, and views; automate with scripts.
• Manage upgrades, backups, failover, and DR plans.
• Monitor and optimize DB health and performance with CloudWatch Insights.
