Job summary

TECKpert is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to support a state transportation agency in Tallahassee, FL. The role covers DB2 z/OS, Oracle, and SQL Server, with responsibilities including performance tuning, DR planning, and schema design.

The ideal candidate has 15+ years of combined DBA experience, a relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and strong mainframe/Linux skills. Onsite work required, with flexible hours and potential Saturday/on-call coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in CS/IS or related field.
• Minimum 15 years combined database administration across DB2 z/OS, Oracle, and SQL Server.
• Advanced DB2 for z/OS application integration, performance management, and admin.
• DB2 catalog maintenance and sub-system recovery expertise.
• JCL, ISPF, COBOL; familiarity with mainframe environments.
• Experience with z/OS monitoring tools and cross-platform monitoring.
• Strong ability to design, maintain, and optimize database schemas and DR procedures.
• Proven communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work onsite in Tallahassee, FL with flexible hours and on-call coverage.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily ops for DB2 z/OS, Oracle, and SQL Server.
• Design and support database structures for apps and reporting.
• Monitor performance and tune databases across platforms.
• Develop DBAs runbooks and technical docs.
• Review SQL and optimize queries for app teams.
• Coach and mentor other technical staff on DBA best practices.
• Support disaster recovery planning and testing.
• Handle DB2 z/OS catalog maintenance and upgrades.
• Coordinate with security, app, and infra teams for stability.
