Qualifications
10+ years of professional experience as a DB2 z/OS Database Administrator; experience with DB2 LUW is a plus.
Strong understanding of DB2 z/OS architecture, Netezza Performance Server, and mainframe operating systems.
Proven experience in mission-critical, multi-terabyte environments and data warehouse concepts.
Expertise in database security, backup/recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
Proficiency in scripting (Shell, Python, Perl) and automation tools such as Control-M.
Experience with monitoring and performance management tools (e.g., Nimsoft, Dynatrace, Datadog).
Bachelor's degree in IT or related field (or equivalent work experience).
DB2 z/OS Database Administration certification preferred; healthcare industry experience is an advantage.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain DB2 z/OS subsystems and Tier-1 mission-critical databases.
Configure and upgrade DB2 systems, perform capacity planning, and monitor performance for multi-terabyte platforms.
Support analytics workloads, data warehouses, data marts, and data lakes.
Apply updates, patches, and hotfixes, and manage database migration from non-production to production environments.
Develop and maintain data models, schemas, views, and tables to support application requirements.
Implement database security mechanisms including encryption, auditing, and access controls.
Develop, execute, and test backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures.
Provide 24x7 production support and troubleshoot complex database, I/O, and SQL performance issues.
Collaborate with IT teams and application developers to optimize system performance and resolve issues.
Automate DBA tasks using scripting languages and workflow tools, and maintain operational documentation.
