Job summary

Fuse Energy in the United States is seeking a backend/data engineer to own and scale our data infrastructure, including Postgres and ClickHouse, and to build reliable data pipelines for analytics and product needs. You will design analytical schemas, implement DBT models, and apply IaC with Pulumi and AWS CDK to keep the database code-driven and maintainable.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of backend or data‑focused engineering experience.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python is required.
• Hands-on experience with relational databases, especially PostgreSQL.
• Experience designing schemas and data models that reflect real‑world business logic.
• Familiarity with DBT or similar data transformation frameworks.
• Strong data validation, testing, and quality assurance practices.
• Infrastructure as code tooling (Pulumi, AWS CDK) — treat database as code.
• Ability to translate unfamiliar logic into clean, intuitive data models.

Responsibilities

• Own the reliability, performance, and scalability of Fuse's database infrastructure across Postgres and ClickHouse.
• Build and maintain scalable data pipelines to support analytics, reporting, and product needs.
• Design and evolve analytical schemas that reflect business logic in structured data models.
• Migrate and transform data from Postgres into ClickHouse ensuring performance and reliability.
• Develop and maintain DBT models aligned to the company domain.
• Implement tests and data quality checks to ensure trustworthy datasets.
• Identify duplicates, improve data consistency, and enforce clean modelling standards.
• Manage all database and infrastructure changes through IaC — minimise direct DB modifications.
