Job summary

Peraton seeks a hands-on Senior Database Engineer to design, implement, and sustain mission-critical database systems (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Oracle). You’ll tune performance, develop PL/pgSQL/PL/SQL, and support migrations, with a strong emphasis on security and scalability in secure environments.

The role collaborates with cross-functional teams in an Agile setting, supports CI/CD, and works with AWS RDS for cloud deployments, ensuring reliability and compliance across the database lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to the position with 12+ years of experience, Master’s with 10+ years, or PhD with 8+ years; additional 4 years may be substituted for a degree.
• Active TS/SCI or SCI eligibility and polygraph.
• Security+ or IAT II/III certification required.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, analyze, and optimize PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and Oracle databases.
• Perform advanced performance tuning, query optimization, and high-reliability configurations.
• Support PostgreSQL/Oracle/MongoDB migrations and modernizations.
• Develop and document system requirements and lifecycle processes.
• Implement Row-Level Security, encryption, and STIG hardening.
• Collaborate in an Agile environment with cross-functional teams.
• Assist with CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments (AWS).
