Job summary

Apex Fintech Solutions is seeking a highly motivated Senior Database Administrator to join our team. This role focuses on MongoDB and PostgreSQL in a fast-paced, cloud-first environment with GCP managed databases, enabling data integrity, performance, and availability.

You will design Terraform modules for Cloud SQL, Redis, AlloyDB, Spanner, and BigQuery, automate operations, and collaborate with engineering to ensure seamless integration into the software lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in CS/Engineering required.
• 8+ years of experience in database administration and optimization.
• Experience with MongoDB, PostgreSQL Server environments including transactional replication.
• Experience with GCP CloudSQL PostgreSQL and PostgreSQL management.
• Experience with Memorystore, AlloyDB, Spanner and BigQuery preferred.
• Experience with IaC tools such as Terraform and GitHub for database changes.
• Experience with high-availability architectures and disaster recovery planning.

Responsibilities

• Administer and optimize high-volume MongoDB and PostgreSQL systems (including Cloud SQL) in highly available environments.
• Design and own Terraform modules for GCP databases: Cloud SQL, Memorystore, AlloyDB, Spanner, and BigQuery.
• Manage large transactional replication with low-latency delivery; use BigQuery as replication target and tune performance/cost.
• Implement database changes via IaC (Terraform with GitHub PRs) following performance, security, and reliability best practices.
• Establish backup/restore, PITR, HA/failover testing, DR runbooks, and a database support plan.
• Collaborate with engineering on schema reviews, query optimization, and BigQuery governance.
• Handle security and audit tasks; respond to data change needs promptly.
• Support on-call rotations and maintenance such as patching and DR testing.
