Job summary

Envestnet is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to ensure reliability, performance, security, and readiness of production databases supporting Wealth platforms. The role focuses on MySQL (primary) and PostgreSQL in a mixed estate, with cloud-hosted deployments on AWS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
• Proven MySQL administration experience (8.0 or newer); primary support focus to start.
• Proven PostgreSQL administration experience in a mixed MySQL/PostgreSQL estate.
• Strong understanding of high-availability and high-transaction database environments, including replication.
• Working knowledge of cloud-hosted database deployments on AWS EC2 and RDS.
• Proficiency in Bash scripting for automation, and a solid foundation in Linux administration and IP networking.
• Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to mentor junior engineers and collaborate across teams.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the reliability, performance, security, and operational readiness of production databases supporting Wealth platforms.
• Monitor database health, respond to incidents, tune performance, support releases and upgrades.
• Lead technical triage and resolution of non-routine database incidents, including deep query analysis, blocking, deadlocks, and replication.
• Plan and execute database support for application releases, including schema changes and deployment sequencing.
• Develop automation to streamline administrative tasks, reporting, and operational support.
