Job summary

Tech Mirrors in McLean, VA, seeks a Sr DataStage Engineer to modernize enterprise data platforms by designing and developing IBM DataStage ETL solutions, integrating Snowflake and AWS, and leveraging AI-assisted tools.

You will work with cloud engineers, architects, and governance teams to transform legacy ETL into scalable, secure data pipelines, with emphasis on performance and data quality.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on IBM DataStage development experience.
• Proven end-to-end ETL experience from extraction to load.
• Strong SQL skills with joins, subqueries, window functions, and tuning.
• Solid UNIX/Linux fundamentals and file system/permissions knowledge.
• Scripting experience (bash/ksh) for job automation.
• Experience with DataStage metadata and XML transition logic.
• Ability to translate legacy ETL to Snowflake/AWS or governance tools like Collibra.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools for ETL modernization.
• Solid data warehousing concepts and data quality practices.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise‑scale IBM DataStage ETL workflows that deliver reliable, high‑quality data.
• Analyze DataStage job metadata and XML transition logic to modernize legacy ETL into Snowflake, AWS, or metadata platforms such as Collibra.
• Optimize ETL performance through advanced SQL, parallel processing, and automation using UNIX/Linux scripting.
• Partner with architects, cloud engineers, and governance teams to deliver scalable, secure, and auditable data migration solutions.
• Produce technical documentation, participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment activities while promoting ETL best practices.
