Job summary

Oportun is seeking a Senior DataOps Engineer to operate, scale, and improve data platforms that power analytics, engineering, and business teams. Focus areas include Databricks, AWS, data pipelines, and automation.

You will ensure reliability, security, and cost-effectiveness while partnering with Data Engineering, Analytics, Security, and Infrastructure teams. You’ll work across Databricks, AWS services, databases, and automation tooling to reduce friction and accelerate incident response, with

Qualifications

• Strong production data platform experience in cloud environments.
• Hands-on Databricks administration including Unity Catalog.
• Experience with Delta Lake, Delta Live Tables, and Spark.
• Proficient in Terraform for IaC and CI/CD tooling.
• Experience with MariaDB/MySQL and MongoDB in production.

Responsibilities

• Administer and support Databricks workspaces, clusters, jobs, and permissions.
• Monitor Delta Live Tables, Spark jobs, and data pipelines for reliability.
• Maintain integrations between Databricks and AWS (S3, IAM, VPC).
• Support AWS infrastructure: EC2, VPC, IAM, networking.
• Build monitoring, dashboards, logs, and alerts across the stack.
• Lead on-call investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Develop automation with Terraform, GitHub Actions, and scripting.
